Dewan Masjid Indonesia (DMI) is a national level organization with the aim of realizing the mosque's function as a center of worship, community development and community unity. This organization was established on June 22, 1972 with the purpose of increasing the faith, piety, noble morals and intelligence of the people and the achievement of a just and prosperous society that is pleasing to Allah SWT, within the territory of the Republic of Indonesia.

DMI has management in every province and district in Indonesia. The central leadership of DMI is democratically elected every five years through a national referendum. The general manager of the DMI center for the period 2012-2022 is Jusuf Kalla, who replaces Tarmizi Taher. He was elected at the VI DMI Summit in 2012 in Jakarta and was entrusted to lead this organization until 2017.
